ShenanArts is announcing open auditions (5 years of age & up) for it's August 2008, production of the landmark rock musical, The Who's Tommy , to be directed by Jeff McDaniel. Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, May 11th from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Saturday, May 17th from 9:00AM - 5:00 PM at the Staunton Mall rehearsal space, next to J.C. Penny's. The Staunton Mall is located at 90 Lee Jackson Highway in Staunton. For directions go to

Performances will be held on Aug. 1-3 & 8-10, 2008. Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays, Sundays, and one weeknight (TBA) per week.

We are looking for actors, singers, dancers, performance artists, and talent of all types.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing and shoes (no flip-flops!) and be prepared to move.

Those wishing to be considered for singing roles (leads, cameos, chorus) must prepare a song, preferably in a rock/pop style (no rap). You must provide your own accompaniment. A CD player and piano will be available. Karaoke and other types of backing tracks are ok for use, as well as a cappella singing. NO SINGING WITH PRERECORDED LEAD VOCALS! Those wishing to be considered for primarily dance roles (dance only roles, with no singing requirements, will be considered) must prepare a short dance routine. Performance artists, and all other talent, should prepare a routine that demonstrates your abilities. You may audition for any or all types of roles.
